Interpreting doesn’t start when you step into the room — it starts with preparation. Whether you’re interpreting a meeting, a conference, a medical appointment or a community event, having the right tools, information and mindset can make all the difference.

Preparation, setlists and technology is a practical, down-to-earth course designed to help BSL/English interpreters strengthen their preparation process. From setlists and schedules to scripts and software, this course covers the building blocks of confident, consistent interpreting — even when the unexpected happens.

This course provides:

  • Clear strategies for preparing effectively across different domains
  • Tools for handling scripts, running orders, and limited prep scenarios
  • Practical guidance on using technology to support your work
  • Techniques for building glossaries, timelines and visual references

Alongside interactive training sessions, you will benefit from:

  • Tried-and-tested resources to streamline your prep process
  • Templates and planning tools to personalise and reuse
  • Support with CPD logging and reflective practice
  • A chance to build connections with fellow interpreters
  • A CPD certificate recognising your attendance and development
  • The opportunity to log 5–10 extra CPD hours through optional follow-up tasks

Who Should Attend?

This course is ideal for BSL/English interpreters at any stage of their career who want to sharpen their prep skills, explore new tools, or just take the stress out of getting ready. No tech expertise required — just curiosity and a willingness to try new things.
