British Sign Language

We look at the structure of BSL, differences from English, and basic communication skills, including the BSL alphabet, numbers, greetings, questions, and other useful vocabulary.

Our Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL) course is a six-week course aimed at starting your journey into BSL whilst learning everyday essentials such as:

Fingerspelling
The Alphabet

Weather

The course is ideal for individuals, groups of friends, workplaces and community organisations.

The course will be tailored to your individual needs and include specialist training for your workplace, so you can learn whatever is specific to you, whether it be event-related signs, frontline work, customer service, security and much more!

You can choose the duration of your course depending on your workforce and timescales; this could be one session, two sessions, six sessions or more!

Sharon is the Deaf Culture Specialist, Lead Tutor & Trainee BSL Translator at The Inclusivity Group, working across the group to support access and inclusion.

She is also a qualified British Sign Language teacher, teaching BSL Levels 1, 2 and 3, along with deaf and Disability awareness training courses.

She has almost 30 years of experience working with deaf and disabled people and previously worked with Local Authority for many years, where she worked directly with young deaf people and deaf adults to improve their opportunities in life.
