Build a more inclusive, informed and supportive workplace for neurodivergent colleagues

This practical CPD course helps employers, managers and staff understand neurodiversity in the workplace and develop the confidence to support neurodivergent colleagues well. Learners will explore inclusive communication, workplace culture, reasonable adjustments, assistive technology and the practical steps organisations can take to remove barriers and improve working experiences for all.

Grounded in UK workplace practice, the course covers the realities of neurodiversity at work, including how to respond appropriately to disclosure, how to create psychologically safe conversations, and how to move from awareness into meaningful action. It also explains the role of reasonable adjustments and Access to Work, including the fact that Access to Work can provide grants for practical workplace support, while employer duties around reasonable adjustments still remain in place.

Course overview

Neurodivergent colleagues can bring valuable strengths, perspectives and ways of thinking to the workplace. However, many continue to face unnecessary barriers caused not by their neurodivergence itself, but by inflexible systems, unclear communication, sensory overload, poorly designed processes and a lack of understanding from others.

This course supports organisations to take a more inclusive and practical approach. Learners will build their knowledge of common neurodivergent experiences in the workplace and develop strategies that improve communication, reduce barriers and promote fairness. The course also includes dedicated coverage of assistive technology, reasonable adjustments, and Access to Work, so learners understand both day to day inclusive practice and the wider support routes available in the UK. Acas advises that employers should consider support for neurodivergent workers whether or not they have a formal diagnosis, and highlights that many neurodivergent workers may be protected under the Equality Act 2010.
