Accessible events and festivals are not achieved through goodwill alone. They require informed planning, lawful decision-making, inclusive design, and confident delivery. Across the UK events, festivals, conferences, and cultural sectors, disabled and neurodivergent people continue to face exclusion not because of lack of interest or engagement, but because environments, systems, and practices are designed around narrow assumptions of how people think, communicate, and respond to sensory input.
This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course provides a comprehensive, evidence-informed framework for designing and delivering events that are accessible, inclusive, and compliant with the Equality Act 2010. It places neurodivergent inclusion at the centre of event practice, recognising that autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, and sensory processing differences are common across audiences and workforces, yet frequently overlooked in traditional event planning.
The course is grounded in the social model of disability and the neurodiversity paradigm, shifting focus away from individuals needing to adapt and towards environments and systems that must change. Accessibility is presented as core event infrastructure—planned, resourced, delivered, and evaluated alongside safety, crowd management, and audience experience—rather than as a reactive or optional add-on.
