This course is designed for leaders and managers who want to move beyond good intentions and build workplaces that are genuinely inclusive, lawful and effective. It recognises that inclusion is not created by policy statements alone, but through leadership behaviour, organisational systems and everyday decision making.
The course explores inclusion as a core leadership responsibility rather than an HR add on. Learners will examine how workplace culture, power, assumptions and organisational processes can unintentionally exclude disabled, Deaf and neurodivergent people, even where organisations believe they are inclusive. The course challenges deficit based thinking and supports leaders to adopt a strengths focused, barrier aware approach to managing people.
Throughout the course, learners develop a practical understanding of disability, neurodivergence and intersectionality in the UK workplace. Legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 are explored in clear, applied terms, helping leaders make confident and defensible decisions around recruitment, reasonable adjustments, performance management, absence, and disciplinary processes.
The course places a strong emphasis on implementation. Learners explore real world scenarios, case law, organisational risk and governance responsibilities, alongside the business and ethical case for inclusive practice. Reflective activities and applied examples support leaders to translate learning into meaningful and sustainable change within their own teams.
